Playing with Fire: Daring to Change Yourself and Your Communities
Friday, 3:30-5pm
What is the ignited frequency of wholeness, well-being, and freedom? What does it sound like individually and collectively?
This workshop will explore this frequency through many portals and perspectives that will leave you with evidence to support the universal reality of this liberating sound in the diverse modalities that are ancient and active in our midst.
* Exercises to Connect with Self and Others – as true wholeness happens in private and in relationships.
* Sample of some of the many spiritual practices – “fires” – described in Roger’s book “Discovering Fire.”
* Assess what’s most important and true to you and your ideal vision for personal and shared spirituality/religion. Do you believe personal and/or shared spirituality and religion are integral to wholeness? Why? Why not? You will walk away with a clarified vision of what these are at their best.
* Experience being Storms; Sacred Singing in Latin, English, and Tagalog; the power of Poetry; and being Empowered to Occupy and Transform Religious and Spiritual traditions as holy Fire-Tenders within!

This workshop offers a deep and compassionate inquiry into the divisions we create—within ourselves and with one another. Together, we will explore the often unconscious splits between “spiritual” and “religious,” “soul” and “mind,” sacred and ordinary. Rather than reinforcing these separations, we will cultivate a generous curiosity about the many ways Spirit—Divinity, Life Force—moves through human experience.
Through guided reflection and dialogue, we will re-examine inherited ideas of “salvation,” reclaiming the word as a living experience of wholeness rather than exclusion. Participants will be invited into a more integrated understanding of self and world—where contemplation and cognition, devotion and discernment, mysticism and meaning-making belong together.
This is an invitation to reclaim union: not through bypassing difference, but through embracing the profound coherence already at work beneath it.
